March 6:
Today I was up early cause one of our roommates likes to set
his alarm for 8am then not get up until hours later. I was up at 8 so I went to
eat. After a slow breakfast I grabbed my computer and watched some tv as I
finished my coffee. Soon enough I had hopped back into bed and started trying
to catch up on my blog posts. I got Pat up a bit after ten so he would be up in
time for breakfast. I went to take a shower and Pat stayed in bed though awake.
It was pretty late once we actually got going. At the terminal we booked our
ticket to Naples and went to get food as we waited for our train, scheduled to
leave in forty-five minutes. We grabbed some pasta and kept an eye on the departures
board for our train. There was no train leaving to Naples at 1:45, our
appointed time. Most of the trains were delayed anyways so we thought maybe
there was an issue with ours. We watched and waited, trying to see if ours was
somewhere. None of the trains to Naples on the bored even had the same train
number as ours. Eventually, ten minutes after our train was supposed to leave I
asked Pat what our train number was anyways. It was right there on the top of
the bored under the name Salerno. The train had been right there the whole time
at platform 9. We got there just in time to watch it pull away.
Back to the line we went to see if we could get another ticket to Naples. The clerk was nice and we were able to reserve another seat without paying more. He showed us our train on the board so we wouldn’t make the same simple mistake. This one was actually called Naples and we were able to board it without issues once it showed up at the platform.
The Naples Metro was weird and once we were on our first train someone asked us for a ticket, which we didn’t have cause we were able to walk right on. The guy didn’t care once he realized we didn’t speak a word of Italian. After out transfer we had to exit the station to get a ticket. Besides that there was no issue getting to our hostel. Once we checked in we went out to grab some cash and some food then went back to our hostel. We chilled in our rooms for a bit but after a while we needed internet so we went to the common room. When we were again hungry we asked the other guests chilling where there was near to get food, as the weather was really rainy and we didn’t want to venture far. In the end we headed to an English styled pub down the street for kebabs and beers before heading back to the hostel and to bed.
