March 10:
When I got up for breakfast I saw the guys from the previous
night. We chilled and ate then they headed off and I crawled back into bed to
do computer things and await pat’s getting going. Once we got going we headed
to the Academia, the small museum which houses the statue David. When we got
there the boys from the hostel were already in line so we joined them. David
was amazing in it’s detail and it looks incredibly lifelike. It is also huge
being almost 17 feet tall. After, Pat and I went to get some lunch and ended up
in a kebab shop. Our plan for the
afternoon was to see the Duomo from the inside and the tower. When we got there
the line for the tower was pretty big so we decided to go into the church
first.
As the line for the church quickly entered the building it began to rain a little. Once we had seen the inside of the church we left to see the impending rain had scared off the entire tower line. We scaled it and were able to see an amazing view of Florence and the quickly approaching thunderstorm.
We decided our next task would be to head back to the hostel, which we did before getting too soaked. We spent some time chilling and I believe I took a nap before we went out for dinner with the guys from the hostel. Coming back we had a few drinks before it was time to hit the hay on our last night in Florence.
