A Walking Tour of Vienna

March 16:
We had seen the previous day that our hostel hosted a free walking tour some mornings and had decided to get up early this morning and go on it. I had my alarm set for 9am to give us plenty of time to get food and make the 10am tour. We were downstairs by 9:30am and we thought to ask where exactly the walking tour would begin, turns out it was at another location of the Wombat Hostel across town. We had half an hour to get there and it was about that far away with the added difficulty that we hadn’t been out of our hostel yet. I took a pic of the metro map to get there on my phone and we were off. Once we got too the right stop we couldn’t find the hostel so we contented ourselves to wandering the huge street market that was around the station. I grabbed a cheese pastry that really hit the spot then we decided to wander some more. In our wanderings we quickly found the other hostel but it was by now much beyond the time when the tour had left. In our further walking we soon found a group of people who were conspicuously speaking English, we had found the tour. We stayed with the tour till its termination and managed to learn a bit about and see some of the beautiful buildings of Vienna.

We soon headed back to the market to a restaurant we had been told was one of the oldest in the city and had a good goulash. Though the restaurant was busy, causing us to have to sit outside in the near freezing weather, the food was good.

After our meal we wandered through the market a bit then headed back to the hostel. We got back around 3pm and decided to chill but were both soon asleep. Hours later we got up and after considerable more chilling we went to get dinner. After I ate I went to the hostel bar to grab an internet connection then headed back up to bed.
