March 17:
Today I was up early from a night of light sleep partially
caused by all my napping the previous day and partially caused by a late
arriving roommate deciding to leave his lamp on all night. Even though I was up
early I took a slow morning and we finally packed up our computers to go to a
café for breakfast, coffee, and internet. After a few hours of researching
things to do in Vienna and Budapest, and looking into Budapest hostels we
decided to drop of our stuff at the hostel and relax for just a tad before
going to walk Vienna’s beautiful ring road and museum district for a few hours.
Once we were properly tired and hungry we headed to near St. Stevens to a Viennese chain called Wienerwald. I had a nice pork cordon bleu with bacon, onions and cheese in it. Think a stuffed schnitzel. After that we took the metro back to our hostel to relax some more. It was about seven and our Polish roommates invited us down to have tea and a snack with them. I obliged cause they are pretty cool and I still needed to book the hostel in Budapest. We booked the Carpe Noctem hostel, it has a really good rating and is supposed to be pretty community oriented and fun. After the Poles and I had chilled and snacked for an hour or so we were all tired and headed back to our rooms around 9pm. I plan to get up at 9am tomorrow so I’ll be all ready to check out by 10.

PS. I had a beer with dinner and cashed in my Wombat Hostel
free drink ticket that I got at check-in so I feel I have adequately celebrated
St. Patrick’s day.
