Today our task was to change hostels. We did.
We got up a bit early by our standards and after packing we left our hostel for our future home. We made our departure around eleven and by noon were registering at St. Christopher’s. It’s a really nice place. We couldn’t get our keys till two in the afternoon but fortunately, as in the Amsterdam St. Christopher’s, there was a bar on the main floor called Belushi’s. We used the interim to get some food since we get a discount at the bar from staying at the hostel. After two hours of eating and dicking around on our computers we checked into our room and got down to business. We looked at train tickets to Barcelona and realized that we would have to get to a station to reserve seats. We headed to Gare d’Austerlitz, the station where the train was supposed to leave from. Though we had thought, from the information we were getting online, that we may have to stay another day in Paris due to inability to get the train we wanted, we got the Friday overnight train booked with no issues. After that triumph we decided to walk around Paris for a while. We quickly came into view of Notre Dame and decided to walk there on the hopes of getting there before it closed.
This was managed with ease. Fun fact, it is the 850th anaversary of the church this year and they are having a bunch of special things throughout the year because of this.
After seeing the church we stumbled upon the Crypte Archeologique. This was a really neat find. In it they show the ruins of the ancient Roman city of Paris and talked about the history of ancient Paris. It was really interesting since I knew nothing about Paris’s roots and love history.
When that was done we decided to wander around Paris for a while. We stopped for dinner at a really tasty Italian pizzeria and after our meal headed home for wine and sleep.
I always look forward to your updates. So it's Barclona next - nice and warm! Enjoy!
