Rebooking in Villa Manos

April 25:
We slept in again today. Last night was our last booked night at the hotel. We awoke at 11:30am to the Owner knocking on our door to figure out what we wanted to do. We had no plans on leaving any time soon so we rebooked from our beds. Other then that the day was lazy and uneventful.

A lazy day in Santorini

April 24:
Today we didn’t do much of anything. We got up late and only went to the grocery store for food. Nothing else really happened…

Into Fira and Free Pasta

April 23:
Today we slept in a bit and as I left the room, to read for a bit in the sun of the balcony, the owner flagged me down and told be to open our door. Soon we were delivered a plate of pasta apiece. With food taken care of we were content to lay around for a while. Eventually we got the energy together to head into town. We had seen some gorgeous views the night before and were excited to see them in the daytime. We wandered around the town and took in the sights. Fira is the capital of Santorini and is a huge tourist attraction. Built into the caldera of a volcano that exploded, destroying a good section of the island in the 1500s it is quite the sight to behold. After walking around for a bit we tired and headed back to the hotel, grabbing some supplies at the grocery store along the way. Back at the hotel we got into our bathing suits and headed to the pool. Though it was too cold to swim we sat out and read for a while before the sun crept too close to the hotel’s roof. Once it began to get chilly we headed back to our rooms for the night.

First Day on Santorini

April 22:
Today we slept in. When I woke up, the first thing I did was checked my phone and saw that the ferry booking company I had used had emailed me back to say that they had cancelled my order. This was a relief. It was gorgeous out. Nineteen degrees and sunny. Eventually we walked into Fira, the capital of Santorini. Well, the outskirts, the city isn’t far but by the time we got to the outskirts we were hungry from not eating since the afternoon the day before and there were restaurants and a supermarket right there. We spent a while at lunch and then headed to the supermarket to get supplies. When we got back we went on our computers for a while before we headed out to the pool to get the last few hours of good sun. Later that night we got hungry and decided to head into town proper. We wandered around for a bit and eventually got some pork gyros to bring back to the room. Once we got back we watched tv and at and eventually headed to bed.

To Santorini

April 21:
I woke up this morning and got to work on catching up with blog posts from the past few days. Soon enough it was time to pack up and check out of the hostel. We went to get some Greek food before we headed to the bus station. We bussed to Heraklion and I still hadn’t gotten the reservation number from the online booking from the ferry company so we bought some tickets at the port. The ferry was running late so we headed into town for some food. The ferry that was supposed to depart at 5:30pm only got into port at Heraklion at 7:30pm and left around 8:30pm. We got into port in Santorini at 2:30am. Fortunately one of the operators of Villa Manos, our hotel, was there to pick us up and get us there.
